Frank D. Paine, a native of Burt, Iowa, received his B.S. (1909) from Iowa State College (University). After graduation, he was emplyed by General Electric in New York State and an electric plant in Iowa. From 1912-1942, he served in various capacities at Iowa State, including Electrical Engineering Instructor and later as head of the General Engineering Dept. (1925-1942). On March 22, 1948, Iowa State College (University) sponsored a 90th anniversary celebration in honor of the founding of the college, which occurred on the same date in 1858 when the charter act establishing a state agricultural college became law.
